Cultural and communication indifferences between the urban communities have resulted in an increase of gang violence, racial tensions, and educational disparities. This has become an epidemic that our children have learned to accept as a part of their everyday lives. Today’s teens may be fearful, but they still give us cause to be optimistic.
The Speakes 4 Them Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, vision is to provide effective strategies and gain progress in helping young people co-exist as they surpass social, cultural and political differences using Youth Theater and “Edutainment” to confront prejudice, sparks debate and evoke change in our inner cities.
Many more policy makers, community activist, educators, and public relations agencies are recognizing the value of theater projects, which are becoming more widely regarded as a means of furthering key educational, economic and community development objectives. There is growing awareness that the development of the creative potential of young people is an essential preparation for a changing world!
